Types of Pants

Pants are a type of clothing usually worn on the body below the waist. They usually cover the body from the waist down to the ankles, and cover both legs individually as opposed to a skirt, which covers both at the same time.

In Europe, you will often here pants referred to as trousers, though other popular synonyms include strides, slacks, kegs, breeches, kex, or breeks.

Shorts are a style of clothing worn below the waist that are designed very similarly to pants, except that they have short pant-legs instead of going all the way down to the ankles.

Nowadays, many pants are made either from denim, or from some other sort of linen or cotton material for dress pants. Some pants are stretchy, while others are loose fitting.

Most pants have pockets, usually one on each side and two in the back. Some pants also have belt loops that enable a belt to keep them from becoming too loose. Since the 16th century, pants have been the most common type of clothing to be worn below the waist in the western world, though shorts are becoming more and more popular for warm weather.

There are many different kinds of pants that are worn by people for various different reasons. For example, construction workers, general laborers, and others who perform manual labor throughout the week usually wear very strong, heavy pants that will both stand up to the strain of every day work without falling apart, and also provide protection for the wearer.

But then, here are also dress pants, which are usually light-weight, and made to look nice as part of a business suit. There are also work-out pants, which are made to be breathable and flexible for more ease of use while exercising.
